Presence, Essence, Luminescence

Anna Shelley

And then she sat down and wept.
And cried
And spilled
And overflowed
All the things she could not.

And then she sighed.
And looked up at the sky
And felt immense gratitude.
For it had been there all along –
Her presence and essence and luminescence
had never disappeared.
Instead she had allowed the presence and essence and luminescence
of others to bury her own.

Never again, she said with a breath
of excitement that reminded her
of Home.
